My cousin did not get his stimulus package »”>stimulus package yet, according to the website, he should have had it by the 2nd. Just wondering if maybe it got taken because of some old unpaid fee. They took his state taxes, but not federal…just wondering if anyone knows what might have happened or how he can find out whats going on.

He needs to look at when he filed and how he filed.

If he filed April 15th, his return may not even have been processed yet – that has to get done before the rebate can be processed.

Did he use a third party preparer like Turbo Tax, H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt? He propably will be getting a paper check, even if he had his refund direct deposited.

It may have been taken..we wouldn’t know…he would.

If he used Turbo tax or similar program…read below:

Even if you have received or will receive your tax refund by direct deposit to your bank account via Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, or other 3rd party bank, the IRS will not do the same for your tax rebate. It will mail your rebate instead.

This applies only to TurboTax customers who used the “refund transfer” with SBB&T when filing. This service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, rather than use a credit card.

When TurboTax customers chose this payment method, they authorized the bank to set up temporary accounts to be used only to receive their 2007 refunds from the IRS. The IRS sends the refunds to the temporary accounts and the bank transmits them directly to customers.

Because the IRS does not in fact receive taxpayers bank-account numbers under this method, it cannot match taxpayers with their current bank accounts.

That’s why the IRS decided that taxpayers who entered into financial transactions with third parties, such as SBB&T, would get rebates by mail.

The last person is right, if he used ANY tax service where his fees came out of his return, or if he used any services where he got his refund faster ex. RAL (refund anticipation loan) then it auto matically turns it into a paper check. We checked into the State thing and were told by a co-worker who is an Atty that the state cannot take your “federal” monies. They can only take state given money but several states did try to take it before congress to try to be able to but he didnt think it worked. As far as the IRS site, you can only be robbed for these three things 1. student loan 2. child support 3. public aid
Depending on his social, he should look at the paper check dates.!!!!
