If you didn’t make at least $3000 in earned income (from a job) for all of 2007, then sorry, you aren’t eligible.

Since your qualifying income is less than $3000, you will be ineligible for the rebate, but you may still benefit under the plan.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 status and income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, taxes would be cut in 2008 from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

So if you have taxable income in 2008, you will see a tax cut when you file in 2009.

If your earned income is under $3000 and you have no social security, no railroad retirement benefits, no pensions, and no veterans disability pay…you’re not going to get a rebate.

If your total income was less than $3,000 you don’t qualify for a stimulus plan payment at this time. The “rebates” are actually an advance payment of a new one-time credit on your 2008 tax return. If you qualify for a payment based upon your 2008 tax return when you file it next year you’ll receive it at that time.
