a few government jobs, but that's about it. many more jobs will be lost because of the stimulus. it is all going to acorn and other liberal backed pork barrel projects! it is a complete disaster. we as americans have just been ripped off like never before.

Temporary ones, yes but thats not what the bill is about.

Take the time to read it online. It doesnt matter your party or line of thinking, you'll see its a lot more about useless pork projects than anything.

I agree. No one has even read the entire stimulus package. The jobs for everyone will come in about four years from now. Not in time for this economic crisis that's for sure.

No one knows. No one has read the 1,000+ pages of the legislation, including the Members of the House and the U.S. Senate.

You're not going to see ads for specific jobs created by the stimulus.

Read a whole news article.

The feds will spend money to build, repair, and upgrade bridges, roads, tunnels, schools, government buildings, national parks, etc.
Those contracts will go to companies that already exist.
Those companies will hire people through their regular processes.

They will be construction, electricians, plumbing, painting, HVAC, landscaping, moving, engineering, architecture, trucking, environmental, etc.
They will use materials from US companies - steel, wiring, pipes, tools, supplies, etc.

That spending will create jobs in those industries.

Those workers will have paychecks to spend on restaurants, stores, cars, entertainment, rent, mortgages, utilities, vacations, etc.
That makes more jobs in those industries.

Then the workers at those places will have paychecks to spend.

Get it?

My husband is a union ironworker.
You know, those guys who walk 40 stories high on a beam that's 5 inches wide.
Right now, he's building a casino that he will never use, because he doesn't gamble.
He doesn't care what he builds, as long as he's working.

It doesn't matter if anyone thinks that the PROJECTS are ridiculous.
What matters is that people are WORKING.

During the depression in the 30s, the feds paid workers to build fancy, elaborate government buildings. The buildings didn't have to be elaborate, but that made them more expensive, which made the jobs last longer.
They paid artists to paint murals in government buildings.
We didn't NEED murals, but the artists needed WORK.

That's how government creates jobs.

SUNSTAR - ALL construction jobs are temporary.
That absolultely does not mean that the workers are lazy and waiting for welfare.

Construction workers are like actors.
They are hired for a specific job.
Once the job is done, they're unemployed.
If they're good at their jobs and the economy is good, then there will be another job for them quickly.

My husband has been an ironworker for 30 years and he has never taken - or needed - welfare.

Don't be so quick to shoot off your mouth when you don't know what you're talking about.

None that will last and none that are going to help the real people. The jobs are for those who are already working.

Supposedly, it will create TEMPORARY govt. contract jobs. You see, when these contract jobs are over, the people who worked them will be depending on the govt. to give them another job. Just what the democrats want.
