Stimulus check to back taxes if you have a payment arrangement?
Monday, December 14, 2009 10:18Posted in category 2009 Stimulus Check
I have a payment arrangement with the IRS that I have been current on every month as I had opted for payroll deductions. Will this still prevent me from getting my stimulus check?

Yes, the payment will be taken and applied toward what you owe. If there’s anything left over they’ll send it to you.

According to what the IRS has published they will take the rebate in the circumstances that you have described. However I have known people that received their rebate while on a payment plan. Now that does not answer you question and that is the case with much of the stuff concerning the stimulus. The IRS seem to be making up the rules as they go. Since there were no rules in place that is reasonable.

Yes. They will keep the money….. We have a payment arrangement with the IRS as well and just received the bad news today….. They will garnish our entire $1800 and put it towards our back taxes. No stimulus check for us, but at least it reduces our tax payments by a lot!

if you read your Installment Agreement Letter, it clearly states on the terms and conditions, “any and all refunds” will be offset and applied to your debt.
You will not receive the stimulus payment it will be applied to your debt. Good you are now closer to paying off your IRS debt.
