Is it too late to file to receive an economic stimulus check?
Friday, April 23, 2010 10:17Posted in category 2009 Stimulus Check
My girlfriend (in her 20s) did not make enough money to file taxes for 2007. And, based on some bad advice from her dad, she didn’t file to receive the economic stimulus check. Is there any thing that can be done now for her to receive that? or is it too late?

Yes she can still file, but there will be interests and penalty. She’ll get the stimulus check, but later…way later.

You can still file for one. I just did one for my grandmother and a sister.
Go to http://www.irs.gov and look at the section on questions about not filing. There is a simple 1040A you fill out and mail in. It takes like 7 minutes to fill out.
Unless she made less than 3000.00 in wages or 300.00 in other benefits, than she gets one.

You’ve gotten some diverse answers! Here’s the scoop: If she had more than $3000 in wage, net self-employment, Social Security, or VA benefits, is a U.S. citizen or resident alien with a valid Social Security number AND was not claimed as a dependent on her parentt’s return, she can claim the stimulus payment if she files by October 15. She can probably use the 1040EZ form.

She needs to file before October 15, and if she is eligible she should still get a stimulus check.
