I’ve been reading through some recent press articles relating to the 2009 stimulus check and have found some of interest:

February 8th 2009 – The Atlanta Journal Constitution have published an article commenting on the irony of the situation in Giorgia, where the Republican controlled Legislature have roundly condemned the stimulus package but on the other hand are checking their mailboxes daily in the hope that they have received their 2009 stimulus check.

February 8th 2009 – Kalamazoo News have published an article about who will benefit from the stimulus package, should it be accepted in its current form. One point they make is that senior citizens who receive social security will receive a 2009 stimulus check to the value of $300. They report how a family would receive a $1000 tax credit on their 2009 income and a $2500 tax credit towards college tuition fees.

February 8th 2009 – The Los Angeles Times have published an article on tips to navigate the new tax rules. They claim that one of the most confusing tax breaks relates to last years stimulus checks. This is because people are not taking on board the fact that last years stimulus check was in fact an advance on last years taxes but was actually based on the previous years income.

So if a 2009 stimulus check is received, using the same logic, it will be an advance on 2009 taxes but based on last years income. For more news on the 2009 stimulus check please view the articles in our 2009 stimulus check category.

February 6th 2009 – The Mountain Mail have reported on eleven new tax acts and the effect of these changes on taxpayers. The only comment of note, which could relate to the 2009 stimulus check, is that for those people lucky enough to receive a stimulus check last year, there is more good news. The income is not taxable. The article go’s on to say that those not lucky enough to qualify for a stimulus check last year, or who did not receive the full amount because of insufficient income, could well qualify for a 2009 stimulus check.
